Some of the most memorable parts of the 2025 Black Canyon 100k involved the people: people in the race, people of the race, and people behind my race. While normally I’m a pretty stoic runner and keep to myself during races, this day was special. I got to meet so many fellow runners and share miles with them, people running their first 100k and others back for revenge, people from Texas to Italy, couples and friends and young and old, all out to have whatever adventure the Black Canyon had to offer them that day. Perhaps the most memorable experience was meeting Sam from Vancouver, who stuck with me the entire last 11 miles from Table Mesa to the Finish. We ebbed and flowed between friendly conversation and pushing silently through the desert, working to finish the task at hand. He was a steady and encouraging presence through the dark night miles as I fought to hold tightly to my goals.

And let’s not forget the people I couldn’t do this without: @johntomal , who criss-crossed the Arizona desert to keep me afloat and flowing through the desert, my coaches @ericsenseman and @emilyharrison0708 with @sundogrunning who have always believed I can do hard things and have made me ready to take them on, @swchbak , my sponsor, who is always a great example of being a positive force in the running community, and friends and family who reached out across the distance to encourage me all day (even if that encouragement came in the form of “suck it up, buttercup” 😉). You know who you are. And a huge thank you is due to @aravaiparunning and the staff and volunteers who made it such an epic event.

Races, awards, PRs, and podiums will come and go, but the memories, relationships, and community that is formed will always be alive and well.

Monroe Trail 50 Ultra. Fifty miles from Edgewater to DeBary, FL. 10th place overall and 4th place female 🎉 It was COLD in the morning (38°) with frost on the ground, and warm in the afternoon (64°). We ran through the swampland, farmland, and cities. It was fun to see the Striders at every aid station offering food and assistance, and Jim Spaulding for guiding me to the finish. Trecia Wells and I started together and looked good when we crossed paths on the bridge towards the end. Carl Mills paced me from mile 34 to mile 50 offering Goggins motivation and being my bodyguard against dogs. Thank you my love Aaron Adams for crewing me from start to finish and filling up my many water bottles. Lastly, it took my training plan and keen advice made by coach Ron to prepare me for this feat @sundogrunning Thank you! Now time to enjoy my celebratory beer. Cheers 🍻

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk through training during perimenopause with @missangmelero of @thezoereport and we touched on an array of topics, which just scratched the surface of this deep, evolving topic.

We had the pleasure of first working with Angela during the @hoka Trail Collective last fall where Angela worked closely with @sundogrunning Coach @sweeney_runsr2t in preparation for @javelinajundred Jackass Nigh Trail 31k.
